Have you not known? Have you not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, faints not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding. He gives power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:28-31
How patient are you or maybe I should ask if you have any patience left? When you are caught in a traffic jam do you get frustrated quickly? When there is a long line at the bank do you wait or do give up and leave? When you go to a restaurant and no one comes to take your order for five minutes do you complain to the manager? Perhaps your frustrations are the result of self-dependence rather than dependence on God.
What would you rather have happen; would you rather work yourself to death or would you rather have the help of God in all of life’s struggles? What does the Word of God have to say about such things. Much, but we will just look at what the Word says in Isaiah 40:28-31, “Have you not known? Have you not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, faints not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding. He gives power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
I was sitting on the porch of the cabin a few years ago and a large number of crows (ravens if you prefer) came flapping by. About half of them went flapping on their merry way using all their energy while the latter half circled and caught a thermal (updraft) and spread their wings and soared using the energy of the winds. Soon they were so high up that they looked like black dots in the sky.
Is that not like some of us? Using all our energy to make it in life while it would be far better to wait in the presence of the Lord and be lifted up in the power and joy of the Holy Spirit. If your spiritual strength is gone maybe it is time to just tarry in the presence of the Lord until you are renewed. Perhaps it is something to think about.
