After almost four decades of service, our building was in serious need of an update. First, Life Church is making sure our church’s bathrooms are exceptional. We want to show visitors our appreciation by creating a comfortable, clean space for them to freshen up. We are designing our bathrooms with high quality materials that will hold up for years to come!
On Sunday, April 26th, 2020, Life Church at South Mountain hosted a Drive-Thru Food Drive in the church parking lot. Volunteers collected monetary and food donations, single-serving packaged foods, peanut butter, water, and blankets for our community in need.
Even when my employer started talking about work from home options and my husband came home from the store talking about people loading carts with water and toilet paper, it still felt distant. The reality hit me a few days later when I went to Walmart for cat food and witnessed the distribution of toilet paper to a long line of customers under the watchful eye a local police officer. I thought, “Wow. This is really happening.”

Do you worry about anything and everything? Do you expect bad things to happen to you? Do you listen to the doubters, skeptics and unbelievers more than you listen to God? If you answered yes to any one of these questions you need to stop, rewind your brain all the way back to the time that you knelt in prayer, confessed your sins and received Christ into your heart; because at that moment in time you knew that God had forgiven you and that He would bless and keep you.
Throughout the Bible God gives us His promises and relates them to us by saying “I will” do this or that and most of the time they come with the condition by The Lord saying, “if” we will keep His Word and be obedient. In the Psalms the writer states, “I will,” do such and such but never seems to put a condition on God. We are to do what is right even when God does not bless us for doing so, don’t you think?
If you read on in this Psalm you will find that not all was hunky-dory will David. As usual he was facing some enemy and he was pleading his cause before the LORD. But in the midst of his trials, he was determined to praise and worship the LORD.
It is hard for us, or at least me, to realize that I cannot fix everything, or that I am not in charge the circumstances that surround me. The only one that I can control is me. Something good is going to come out of this and God will be glorified through it. That is a choice we make when we walk by faith in the difficulties we must face.
Most of us see the cross as an item that represents the symbol for being a Christian. We wear them around our necks and hang them on our walls. Sometimes we put them up in our yards for decoration. I believe the cross should be so much more than jewelry or a piece of art for our walls and yard…
I do think it is important for us to adhere to the directions given to us by our President and our Governor to space ourselves six feet from others. This will be hard for many of us, but I have a few suggestions…

¿Cuál es su batalla el día de hoy? ¿Desde cuándo se viene prolongando? ¿Piensa rendirse? ¿El enemigo le susurra al oído o le grita en su cara que al Dios al que usted adora y sirve no ha hecho nada al respecto?
Let’s face it. We all have things that we’re passionate about or really like to do. I like to fish from my kayak. I like to camp in luxury (glamping). I like to work on my house. I like technology. Most of all, I like making money so I can do all these things. Do I find myself idolizing this stuff? More often than I like to admit. Am I letting the things I like to do push me to an eternity in darkness? I pray that I don’t.
If you stop and catch some of the things that fly through your head, are you inherently hating on others and being judgmental? Are your eyes wandering where they shouldn’t? Or maybe, and this is a hard one, are you cursing people that you don’t even know (or maybe do know) that are driving too slow in front of you? What do you think is influencing this attitude of rage and discontentment?
Dealing with trials in our lives can be tough. Once in a while I’ll say to myself, “God, will this ever end?” When issues arise and I don’t think I’ll ever see a positive outcome, I turn to the Bible. I search to find examples similar to the drama I am experiencing, and learn how our ancestors dealt with particular issues in their lives, and how God dealt with those individuals.
