How Can You Measure the Love of God?

Article written by Brother Bledsoe

You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. My enemies will retreat when I call to you for help. This I know: God is on my side! I praise God for what he has promised; yes, I praise the LORD for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me?
Psalm 56:8-11 (NLT2)

Do you believe that He cares that much for you? You should, you know. He not only keeps track of all your sorrows; He has collected all your tears that you have shed and recorded each one of them in a book. He who feeds the sparrows and adorns the fields with flowers and waters the majestic giant redwood trees also has the number of hairs in your head and changes the count when some fall out.

He loves you so much more than you can even begin to imagine. How can you measure the love of God for you, knowing that He gave His only begotten Son to die for you and cleanse you from all your sins? Paul wrote in Ephesians 3:14-19,

“For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height–to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”

Is that a comprehensive statement or what?

God will Supply

Yes, He keeps track of all your sorrows. Yes, He knows what you have need of before you ask Him. Yes, He will supply all of your needs according to His riches in glory. Let us praise Him for He is worthy to be praised.

Having pastored for more than forty years I have seen many ways that people put a wet blanket on the fire of the Spirit. The first and most obvious is unbelief which shows up in many ways; such as skepticism, stubbornness, pride, and sin in the life through unrepentance, etc.

Beans And Taters

Think about it, how many mealtimes do you remember that you had to miss because there was no food in the house? I can’t remember any. Our meals might have consisted of beans and taters but we still had food on the table.

Are You Following Another Rut?

My dad used to tell me stories of when he was young. He told me, when he would drive in the roads (they were not paved highways) that ruts would be so deep that he would take his hands off of the steering wheel and the old car would drive itself down the way in the ruts. It must have been the earliest version of the self-driving car. But I digress—again.
