Is It That Simple?

Article written by Brother Bledsoe

And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”
2 Kings 2:9

Now, imagine that you are Elijah and your closest compatriot asks you for a double-portion of the Spirit to rest on you; what would you say? What would you say to a person who asks you how is it that you have not been negatively affected by the virus that is ravaging the world? How can you be so calm? What would you say? Would you say, “Well, it is just my nature.” Or, would you take advantage of the opportunity and tell them about your best friend, Jesus Christ the Lord? Would you tell him that there is One who will see him through every trouble and trial of life? How would you respond?

Is It That Simple?

Elijah said, “You ask a hard thing but if you see me when I am taken up it will be as you ask.” If a friend asks you, “How can I have what you have,” you can tell him, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved;” then you will have what I have. He might ask, “Is it that simple?” You can tell him that the assurance that you have is through your relationship with Jesus and that he can have the same peace–simply believe on Jesus.

Is that about what you would say to your friend? It is the best answer that you can give—don’t you know! Have a blessed day, amen.

If you answered yes to any one of these questions you need to stop, rewind your brain all the way back to the time that you knelt in prayer, confessed your sins and received Christ into your heart; because at that moment in time you knew that God had forgiven you and that He would bless and keep you.

I Will

Throughout the Bible God gives us His promises and relates them to us by saying “I will” do this or that and most of the time they come with the condition by The Lord saying, “if” we will keep His Word and be obedient. In the Psalms the writer states, “I will,” do such and such but never seems to put a condition on God. We are to do what is right even when God does not bless us for doing so, don’t you think?
