New Year, Same God

Article written by Brother Bledsoe

Behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. Be ye glad and rejoice forever in that which I create:
Isaiah 65:17-18a (KJV).

Just so you know, I did not spring out of bed this morning, neither did I go dancing through house just because it is the beginning of a new year. The date changed and the year changed but nothing else did. I might have had a little more energy if the explosions of fireworks had not kept me awake until after midnight. The aches and pains that I had yesterday are still with me today as they probably are with you. There are still wars being fought. Nations still want to destroy other nations. People will still die. And, criminals will still commit crimes, etc., etc., and etc. Now doesn’t all that sound encouraging?

Thank God that it is not always going to be that way. The day is coming when God will make all things new. Yes, things will get worse because evil will increase but that is just the prelude to the day when Jesus stands again on the Mount of Olives and rules this earth with a scepter of iron. Then there will be peace such as the world has never known. The Word of God says,

“For you shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”
Isaiah 55:12 (KJV)

I am looking forward to that day.

We don’t know what will happen this year but we do know Who controls our future. We do know that Almighty God holds us in the palms of His hands. We do know that He wants to bless us and give us a future that is far beyond our imagination. We do know that He will never leave us nor forsake us. So, let us not lose hope or cast away our faith. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and He will direct you in the paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake. His promises are true and He will keep every promise that He has made in His Word.

It is my prayer that God will bring you unexpected blessings. That He will surprise you gifts and blessings that will make your heart sing. Remember, whatever happens this year, God will still be God and He will be in control. Amen!

Rewind Your Brain

Do you worry about anything and everything? Do you expect bad things to happen to you? Do you listen to the doubters, skeptics and unbelievers more than you listen to God? If you answered yes to any one of these questions you need to stop, rewind your brain all the way back to the time that you knelt in prayer, confessed your sins and received Christ into your heart; because at that moment in time you knew that God had forgiven you and that He would bless and keep you.

I Will

Throughout the Bible God gives us His promises and relates them to us by saying “I will” do this or that and most of the time they come with the condition by The Lord saying, “if” we will keep His Word and be obedient. In the Psalms the writer states, “I will,” do such and such but never seems to put a condition on God. We are to do what is right even when God does not bless us for doing so, don’t you think?

It’s Not All “Hunky-Dory”

If you read on in this Psalm you will find that not all was hunky-dory will David. As usual he was facing some enemy and he was pleading his cause before the LORD. But in the midst of his trials, he was determined to praise and worship the LORD.
