Patting Out Biscuits

Article written by Brother Bledsoe

Shout joyful praises to God, all the earth! Sing about the glory of his name! Tell the world how glorious he is. Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! Your enemies cringe before your mighty power. Everything on earth will worship you; they will sing your praises, shouting your name in glorious songs.”
Psalm 66:1-4 (NLT)

We have all heard people singing heartily to the Lord and others whose lips are moving but there is no sound. Some with beautiful voices and some otherwise. Some who clap their hands so loud that they make the windows rattle (I digress) and others who look like they are patting out biscuits. (I really digress). Is one wrong and the other not? I will let you decide that for yourself. The point is that the Psalmist encouraged the people to “shout joyful praises to God;” to “sing about the glory of His name!” He instructs us to “Tell the world how glorious He is.” He tells us to talk to God and tell Him how great and awesome are His works.

Singing Rocks?

Imagine what will happen if we refuse to praise Him. Jesus said that if the people had not praised Him on the occasion of His “triumphal” entry into Jerusalem that even the rocks would have cried out His praise. Was he speaking metaphorically or would the rocks actually begin to praise Him? Think about it; just don’t let no rock do your praising for you.

There is an “classic” Christian song that says, “I’ll tell the world how Jesus saved me; I’ll tell the world He cleansed my soul…” Let’s pick up the refrain and joyfully use every opportunity to tell how Jesus saved us, forgave us and changed us. “Tell the world how glorious He is,” amen and amen.

For The Living

He also remembers that His “compassion” fails not.  Compassion is love applied to the hurting rather than sympathy which is feeling sorry but doing nothing about the pain and suffering of others. Faithfulness is always being there and always being true to one’s word.  Over and over again the Word proclaims that God is faithful.  Literally, He never changes so His Word to us never changes—it is always true.

Inheritance Incorruptible

In the midst of troubles and trials because the genuineness of your faith is tested. Peter wrote that even then your faith is more precious than gold even though it is sometimes tested by fire. To whom is your faith precious? Is it not precious to the one who has it and is it not precious to the One who gives it? Is it not above word?

The Vision

Your faith (and mine) in Christ Jesus should have a profound effect on us and because the end result of our faith is the salvation of our souls. It is through your faith in the finished work of Christ and the confession of your faith that have resulted in your name being penned in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
