When God Speaks

Article written by Brother Bledsoe

By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
Hebrews 11:7

Is God speaking to mankind today? If so, when He speaks, does it listen? Noah was warned of God of something that was going to happen but that had never happened before. In Genesis 6:13, 17, the Word of God said,

“God said unto Noah, the end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and everything that is in the earth shall die.”

I know that it is not in the Bible but can’t you just imagine the conversation between God and Noah. God said to Noah, “build an ark.” Noah must have thought, what’s an ark? God said He was going to flood the earth. Noah must have thought, what’s a flood (it had never rained). When God gave Noah the dimensions of the ark, he must have thought, I will never get that ship built. The ark was not going to be a raft, it was going to be bigger than a WWII destroyer.

Righteousness by Faith

When God warned Noah, by faith, he started that giant project. He started by faith in God but he was driven by fear. Through His faith in God he brought about the salvation of his family and the preservation of mankind. By his obedience he brought condemnation upon all who refused to believe for they did not die ignorantly, Noah was a preacher of righteousness. (See 2 Peter 5:5) They were warned but they refused to believe. And, by his faith, Noah became the heir of righteousness.

Again, the question, when God speaks, do we listen? If so, do we obey? When God does speak, let us, by faith, step out to do what the Lord calls us to do. We will never be sorry and we will certainly be blessed. Amen!

For The Living

He also remembers that His “compassion” fails not.  Compassion is love applied to the hurting rather than sympathy which is feeling sorry but doing nothing about the pain and suffering of others. Faithfulness is always being there and always being true to one’s word.  Over and over again the Word proclaims that God is faithful.  Literally, He never changes so His Word to us never changes—it is always true.

Inheritance Incorruptible

In the midst of troubles and trials because the genuineness of your faith is tested. Peter wrote that even then your faith is more precious than gold even though it is sometimes tested by fire. To whom is your faith precious? Is it not precious to the one who has it and is it not precious to the One who gives it? Is it not above word?

The Vision

Your faith (and mine) in Christ Jesus should have a profound effect on us and because the end result of our faith is the salvation of our souls. It is through your faith in the finished work of Christ and the confession of your faith that have resulted in your name being penned in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
